Successful applicants are indentured into a four year apprenticeship programme. The apprenticeship programme combines on site training plus college training on a block release basis. As Sharkey has invested heavily in this programme and employs a large number of apprentices, Sharkey apprentices attend classes which are exclusively for Sharkey employees which allow us to be innovative in our training and maintain a company focus and strong team spirit

All apprentices are expected to achieve an SVQ level 2 on completion of all modules at college and SVQ level 3 is achieved on completion of the apprenticeship programme and passing of the final skills test

Once qualified Sharkey seeks to retain these staff within it's core workforce. There is then an ongoing training vision to pull staff through to senior management and director level which has been successful to date as a number of our directors started their careers as apprentices with Sharkey.
